China's Wide Length Stamps

China post issued stamps featuring scroll paintings to revive the ancient art of China. Both the stamps exceeds in the measurement in length from other regular stamps.

Scroll painting is one of the many traditional ways to display and exhibit Chinese painting and calligraphy. They can either be landscape scrolls or narrative scrolls.

The first stamp was issued in April 2013 which belongs to the Tang dynasty. It depicts Chinese Court Ladies preparing the newly woven silk reflecting Tang Dynasty Royal Family's life.

The other stamp was issued in March 2014 depicting the scene of “Horse Bathing”. The painting, again, belongs to the Tang Dynasty and shows ease of life and prosperity during the period.

The issue, basically, aims at reviving the lost art and to make new generation acquainted with China’s ancient history and culture.
